Is Cat Chaser self-published or traditionally published?
Since I am still a minor, self-publishing was an easier route, though I would love to explore traditional publishing in the future. You can find Cat Chaser on Amazon or attend one of the events I plan to participate in this fall to get a copy!
What type of book is Cat Chaser?
Cat Chaser is a choose-your-own-adventure book, so readers are able to make choices and choose which pages to turn to depending on what path they want to take. Cat Chaser is also a coloring book, so kids can draw and interpret the story their own way. Learn more about my book on this page.
Is Cat Chaser for children or adults?
Cat Chaser is mainly geared towards children ages 4-9, but teens and adults can have fun with it also! I know many people older than me that love to draw and read the book.
Why is Cat Chaser good for kids?
Cat Chaser inspires kids to express their creativity and imagination with the aspect of creating their own illustrations and choosing their own path and story.
How old were you when you began your writing journey?
Ever since I learned how to read, I loved writing my own stories. My Cat Chaser journey started when I was nine, and then at age twelve, I began focusing on getting it out into the world.
Do you want to be an author when you grow up?
Being a full-time author is my dream job, but if it doesn't work out, I want to still write books on the side. I'd also love to pursue a career that has anything to do with writing, whether it may for a newspaper, working at a publishing company, or going into screenwriting.
Will you only write choose-your-own-adventure books, or will you branch out into other types of books?
My ultimate goal is to become a novelist, but writing a novel takes a lot of time and effort that I don't have as a high school student. Writing choose-your-own-adventure books has helped me learn about the writing and editing process, marketing, self-publishing, and making a name for myself. I will probably focus on writing choose-your-own-adventure books until I have enough time to focus on an entire novel.
How do you balance school, homework, extracurriculars, and writing?
Being in high school and being an author is a difficult balance in itself, especially when I'm also focusing on my sports and other commitments. School is my top priority, but I always make sure to fit writing in, even if it's only five minutes. Weekends are my time to get most of my work done, and I prepare things for the upcoming week in an effort to reduce stress. When planning a date to publish a book, I make sure it's during one of my school breaks (spring break, summer break, or winter break) so I don't have any other stressors during that time.
How can I reach out to you?
Check the contact page for ways to reach me! Since I don't have an agent and I work mainly by myself, all messages go directly to me.
Are you interested in collaborating?
I'm all for working with other people as long as it aligns with my goals of creating books and making a name for myself as an author.
Do you handle every aspect of your business on your own?
For the most part, I do everything. I write the books completely on my own, manage the social media on my own, and I made this website by myself. Yet, my parents help with the finances and manage everything as I am still a minor. My mom is also a huge help in the formatting process of all of my books.
